About Me

I grew up on a small acreage just outside of Winnipeg and for as long as I can remember have had a curiosity for life, an instinctual nature and a love for learning. One thing that I hope to pass down to my children is that by using insight from your experiences, imagination to envision & determination to follow through- you can make anything possible.

I never had a set ideation of what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have, however, always known that working with people in ways that create connections through conversations & experiences while helping them in some way has always filled my cup, and I’ve used that as a compass to lead me in the directions I’ve moved professionally over the years. I started my young adulthood working as a hairdresser in the city. I then felt a pull to make a change, bought a house in Pilot Mound and took a position at the local Personal Care Home as a Health Care Aide. Shortly after, I met my now husband Justin, and we started our family. I like to joke that we’ve lived a bit of a “gypsy” lifestyle chasing dreams, moving from town to town while raising our three littles & finding what feels right for us & our values. After 3 more career changes (municipal program coordinator, business owner/sales & greenhouse/ranch hand ) and 5 moves- We have now settled where it feels like home in the beautiful community of Clearwater, MB. Through the ebbs and flows of life, I have been able to cross paths with many incredible people who I am grateful to have learnt from and developed an array of skills, which I look forward to putting to use here with the Covers & Co team.

Outside of work, I am a bit of a homebody that enjoys spending time being present with my family & friends, exploring nature, creating art, working in the garden, reading & cooking.

Why Did I Choose Covers & Co.?

Shortly after moving to the area, I met Joe and Travis through a mutual friend, and we've kept in touch on and off over the years. I first heard about Covers & Co. when they launched through Farmers in the community. Initially, reactions were mixed—some were curious about their approach, while others were skeptical. However, as I learned more about their mission and motivations, it resonated with me.

Having not grown up in agriculture, my twelve years here have allowed me to observe conventional practices with unbiased eyes and ears. I have developed a deep fascination with plant biology, including the intricate underground networks of roots and fungi, the critical role of soil health, and various permaculture techniques in the garden. This knowledge strengthened my belief in Joe and Travis's vision—a farming method that harmonizes with Mother Nature rather than working against her. Having witnessed firsthand the environmental challenges faced by monocrops, such as drought, salinity, and insect infestations, I've been impressed by the resilience of their cover crop blends. Through even the toughest of years, their success has been evident. I've watched Covers & Co. grow from the sidelines since the beginning and when Joe approached me about joining their team, I was thrilled at the opportunity to contribute and to help spread awareness on what they’re doing.
